Trustees

Paul Dorrance

Paul Dorrance joined trans-Tasman law firm Duncan Cotterill as a barrister and solicitor in 1994 and was made a partner in 1997. Since then Paul has grown a significant commercial law practice. He is a trustee of a number of trusts and with his firm supports charitable organisations through either trusteeships or general commercial support. Paul has been a Trustee of the Foundation since its inception in 2006.


Sue Foley

Sue Foley is Director of Corporate Affairs at Westpac. Prior to this she was the Assistant Vice-Chancellor External Relations at Massey University and the General Manager Corporate Affairs at KiwiRail (formerly Toll NZ). Sue has worked with the Foundation since 2006 and became a Trustee in 2009.

Sue has an extensive background in journalism and public affairs. Past roles include chief of staff for TV3 News, chief of staff for the Leader of the Opposition, head of marketing and communications for the 2000 America's Cup Village, senior public affairs consultant at a leading New Zealand agency and an award-winning television journalist.


Kimberley Brady

Kimberley Brady joined the Foundation's Board in 2011. She is currently the Communications Manager for KiwiRail where she leads the organisation's Communications team. Kimberley has over fifteen years' experience in corporate communications.

Prior to joining KiwiRail she held communications management positions at the NZ Army and at an international broadcasting company in the United Kingdom. She also has extensive experience in the rail industry, having worked in senior managerial positions at Queensland Rail for a number of years. Kimberley holds a Masters in Communications from the Queensland University of Technology.


Murray King

Murray King also joined the Foundation as a Trustee in 2011. A director and principal of transport consultancy Murray King & Francis Small Consultancy Ltd, Murray has extensive rail experience, having held senior roles with NZ Rail Ltd and Tranz Rail. He was significantly involved in the restructuring of NZ Railways, its privatisation and initial public offering in the 1990s, and in safety management.

Murray is also a past board member of Land Transport New Zealand (now merged into NZTA). He holds a PhD in Geography and was a Post-Doctoral Fellow of the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He is also a qualified barrister of the High Court of New Zealand.


Inspector Mark Stables

Inspector Mark Stables is the National Adviser: Crash Investigation for the NZ Police. He joined the Chris Cairns Foundation Board in 2011. Mark has over twenty three years' experience in road policing, specialising in crash investigation since 1993.

During his time at Police National Headquarters Mark has also relieved as Manager: Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit and is currently the Acting Manager: Police Calibration Services - an ISO accredited laboratory responsible for maintaining certification and accuracy of all speed, weighing and distance measurement equipment operated by Police nationally. He also supervises the railway level crossing complaint system, managing the handling of level crossing complaints provided to the Police by locomotive engineers.
