Day Thirty-three - Amberley to Kaiapoi
Simon Doull is one hell of a good sport. Simon turned up to the start line this morning at Shell Amberley with a two piece consisting of Roger Farrelly’s short shorts and Lea Panapa’s bra!! I must say he didn’t look too comfortable as he was continually adjusting his bra straps!
As we all convoyed out to the start line everyone was very curious to see if anyone was going to surprise us by turning up nude and walking with Cairnsy. About 5 minutes into the walk a nudist jumped out of a passing van with a cape tied around his neck and a headband with the eyes cut out it. A very brave man when the temperature this morning was not that warm. As you may well understand we can not expose these pictures over the internet!!
Cairnsy had a number of keen walkers join him this morning including a group of school kids from Rangioura High School. These guys and girls stuck it out the whole day. A big thank you goes out to the school as they raised $1,200 for the Foundation! Thanks so much for your support!
Cairnsy found his newest best friend today… Vasoline!! After 32 days of walking, it is quite understandable that a little vasoline wont go astray!! We made a number of stops to make sure the rest of the day went smoothly if you know what I mean!
As we walked through Woodend and Kaiapoi we were welcomed by Woodend School and Kaiapoi North School. The children were encouraging Cairnsy with cheering and clapping. It was funny to hear a little voice pop and say “has Chris changed his clothes at all?”!!
The reception we received from the Kaiapoi town centre wss unbelievable. We thank all of those who cheered Chris through the town centre as I brought a smile to his face and it has really amped him up for the last two days of this great journey!
Only two days to go now which are the two shortest legs of the walk so please come out and say hello!
Until tomorrow, bye for now!
