Day Thirty-one - Cheviot to Greta Valley

The job of blog writer has been officially passed on from Cairnsy to the BB brothers as we have had such a positive response from the readers that Cairnsy's blogs don’t cut the mustard!!

Chris had a lovely surprise this morning when two of his good mates Mike Smith and Craig Rogers turned up at the Cheviot Trust Hotel with the socks pulled up ready to go. Cairnsy was also joined by KiwiRail (Toll NZ) and ONTRACK staff as he strolled out of Cheviot.

Cairnsy set a cracking pace early on and all the walkers showed some guts and kept up with him. Smithy and Roge showed a tremendous effort and walked the whole leg with Cairnsy with Smithy on his phone every 5 minutes he really did put in the yards.

As we approached Greta Valley we could see that the boys were working up a real thirst so we decided to have a handle ready for the two guys as they strolled in the Greta Valley Pub. As the first one didn’t touch the sides we decided to shout them both another.

We have come across some great blisters on this trip but nothing beats the size of the one on the back of Craig Rogers’ foot. The size of this blister could be compared to the size of the bottom of a Red Bull can. It was that big it scared away our blister popper Selwyn.

We wish Roge all the best with his recovery!!

Tomorrow we walk from Greta Valley to Amberley. We hope to see you somewhere along the way. Only four days to go!!
