Day Twenty-six - Ward to Kekerengu
The BB brothers are back (aka Patrick and Simon), we did such a great job on the last blog the boss (Cairnsy) said its all ours once again. After winning 4 out of 5 raffles at the pub last night, our dinner was taken care of with a feast of red meat and chicken. There is definitely no absence of protein in the bodies of the crew today.
Big W (Wayne Wilson) walked with Chris and displayed some fine walking style and clocked up his longest walk yet…. 6.5km.. way to go Big W! This part of the leg saw some great scenery as we approached the great Kaikoura Coast. Cairnsy really put the foot down as the smell of a well deserved lunch at the Kekerengu Store came closer and closer.
After a great sit down lunch at the Store we headed back to our accommodation at Ward with some very generous donations from the staff at the store and also the patrons who shared a story or two with Chris. Thanks!
After a good solid wash of all the vehicles which looked like they had been through a ploughed paddock, the Hyundai support vehicles looked brand spanking new. Everyone is a little tired tonight but a few of the crew headed back to the East Coast Inn for a meal and watch the Canterbury vs Northland game on the big screen. We were given strict instructions from Cairnsy to keep it a quiet night so we headed back for an early night.
Until tomorrow, BB brothers over and out.
