Day Four - Hamilton to Cambridge

A delicious meal at Sky City in Hamilton on Wednesday evening had me off to a strong start on Day Four. Although I snuck out early from the Casino the support crew stayed on and had a few big wins on the pokies. My old mate Arthur Pitcher was a wonderful host as always and we thank him for his generosity.

Another “ROCK” sausage sizzle morning at Shell Te Rapa got the crew ready for a steady 28km day. The North Face NZ team came down to see us off and we had a great group volunteers from ONTRACK help us out with the donation buckets.

The special mention of the day today goes to two young Shell employees, Ant and Fiona, who spent the whole day with me and walked step for step from Hamilton to Cambridge. The young couple had a few great stories and kept me entertained throughout the journey. A big thank you to them both and to Shell for giving them the day off to come along with me.

I started to feel my legs a little today as we climbed a few hills, but I have been told they are only speed humps compared to what we will face as we head further south.

A little longer trail tomorrow, but looking forward to having Mooloo the Cow out there with me again in the morning. We have a little bit of a lye in with a 10am start….so looking forward to that…see you all tomorrow night!
